My account isn’t authorised with VAT, and I tried the following points still without success:
- I’ve linked the right HMRC account
- The VAT number is correct
- We have enrolled on MTD with HMRC (as we registered for VAT last September 2024 and it’s automatic)
What other issue can be happening?

The Client not Authorised message occurs when we try and log into your tax account using the details you have provided and HMRC returns the error.
If you have tried all the steps in the troubleshooting guide the you may need to contact HMRC directly as we have no control over this error.
