Vat return error message help

Hi
I need to submit a VAT return for one of my clients. I have gone to run a VAT return and I am getting the below message. There VAT return I need to run is from 1st Oct 19 - 31st Dec 19.

  • You are not yet authorised to view this report for the VRN 242154928 . Please ensure your VAT number is correct and you have connected the corresponding HMRC Tax Account. If you have recently enrolled on the MTD scheme please allow 24 hours for HMRC systems to update."

Unsure why this error message has come up as we have not had any previous problems with this.

Hi @lisaefc

This error is one that is returned by HMRC, usually it is one of 3 things:

  1. The wrong tax account has been linked
  2. The account is still pending with HMRC, this can take 72 hours to go through.
  3. You are not yet enrolled with Making Tax Digital.

If you think that none of these apply to you, I would suggest contacting HMRC to see if they can shed any more light on it.
