VAT return figures wrong

Hi, i have manually submitted all of my sale and purchases and am having some problems:

  1. the total value of sales for period 3 is £130,889.50. these figures have been manually imputed and checked but for some reason the VAT return is showing a value of £89,814. this is a shortfall of £41,076 which is the value of GTCLOG92 which is one of our invoices which when we have input it, it is sitting in October and we don’t know how to move it back over to September (we have tried deleting it and changing the payment date to September but it hasn’t worked)

  2. the total value of purchases for period 3 is £7452.65 of which £957.99 is VAT due to be claimed back. These figures have been manually imputed and checked but for some reason the VAT return is showing a value of £ £6,345 and it also shows VAT due to be claimed back at £667.98.

Please can you advise as a matter of urgency.
thank you

If you’re configured in QuickFile as cash accounting then the payment date needs to fall within the relevant quarter, if you’re configured for accrual accounting then it’s the invoice date.

Are you saying that when you change the date and then do the VAT return preparation again it still doesn’t get included? Have you downloaded the backing calculations (either “download calculations” at the bottom or “export” at the top depending which version of the form you have), that should show exactly which items are and aren’t being included. Or have you accidentally ticked the “out of scope” box on the invoice (which you can only see from the editing screen, not the preview)?

Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. We have now sorted it and submitted.
