I have rolled back a VAT return by mistake, and want to correct this. How do I do this please. The VAT return has been filed with HMRC already.
Hello @Bharat
You would have to save the period again in order to flag the transactions from that period as reconciled.
To do this.
- Go to Reports > Vat Returns > Settings
- Change the HMRC account to “No electronic filing” > Save
- Click Create
- Enter the period range (the return will generate)
- Save the return
- Go to Reports > Vat Returns > Settings
- Change the HMRC account to your HMRC account > Save
NOTE - This return will show as “SAVED” rather than “SUBMITTED”.
Hi Steve
Thank you for the guidance. How do I resubmit the corrected return from Quickfiles?
Regards
Hello @Bharat
The VAT return has been filed with HMRC already for this period.
Any future changes would have to be done on your next return.
Hi Steve
Many apologies, but having corrected the return in Quickfiles following your instructions (the return is showing as SAVED), how will the changes be applied in the next return?
Regards
Hello @Bharat
I have rolled back a VAT return by mistake, and want to correct this.
My apologies if I mis understood what you were trying to do.
Once a return is submitted for a period it can not be changed with HMRC.
I have gave you instructions to re reconcile the transactions for this period.
The period is now saved, meaning the transactions included will not get picked up in future returns.
After saving this return, if you enter any any invoices that were missed off, the next return will look for any late entries and include them. If anything else was different to the one you submitted, you can also make a manual adjustment to the figures.
