Hi there,
I usually submit VAT via QF every Quarter successfully.
This time, I receive the following error message:
By ChRIS : The VAT Period you have entered 2017-04 for the VRN 138613411 was not found, please check and resubmit if necessary.
I have checked setttings page and all still seems correct.
I can also use the same login details to login to HMRC online services, but for some reasn the VAT return is Unsuccessful.
Please can you help?
Indy
Hi @indypanesar
From the message, it seems that VAT return was submitted for period ending April 2017 (2017-04). It seems that HMRC were expecting a different period.
If you log into HMRC directly, does it show you what period that would be expecting? What are your VAT quarters usually?
I have re-tried submitting (after Rolling back the failed VAT return) but the new attempt has also failed.
The 2017-04 in the error appears to reflect the Period (e. up to end of April 2017) , which is correct.
I verified the dates in the Return before i send: 01-Feb-2017 to 30-April-2017. I have used the calendar function to select the dates to avoid formatting error.
Everything else seems OK.
Weird. Any other suggestions?
Did you manage to log into HMRC directly to identify exactly which period they were expecting? This error usually means you’re supplying a period that differs to the one they expected.
Hi there,
Yes, thanks for the prompt to log into my HMRC Online account. When I did so, i found there was strangely “No VAT Return due”.
So, I called HMRC, they told me that there was a block on my Business address (some post had gotten bounced-back and returned to HMRC).
The block on the VAT registered business address meant that HMRC did not generate a Return for me, hence i was not able to submit one.
HMRC have now lifted the block, and I am expected to send a 6 monthly return at the next Quarterly update.
No penalty will be due for missing this quarter’s return (because there was no return officially “due” per HMRC’s systems).
All sorted now… Thanks again!
Indy
Glad you managed to get it sorted!
