I’ve been using Quickfile for a few years to submit my VAT and never had any problems, however today when trying to submit for the period 1/12/16 to 28/2/17 I got the following message
Vat return submission to HMRC failed.
By Gateway : Authentication Failure. The supplied user credentials failed validation for the requested service
All advice / help much appreciated.

The error suggests that the username and/or password that QuickFile has for your HMRC account is incorrect. Has this been updated with HMRC recently?
No we haven’t made amy changes to usernames / passwords etc since the last VAT submisssion
Unfortunately the error we show is what’s sent back from HMRC. I would certainly try and log into the HMRC website directly and just update the settings on your account to be sure.
