“VAT submission has HMRC error code 500 - An Internal Server error occurred!
STATUS - INTERNAL-SERVER-ERROR”
I have attempted to submit a VAT return today and have received this message. Can any one give me some idea if this is my end or the HMRC end.

How long ago did you see this error?
HMRC have been carrying out maintenance on their systems who would have affected VAT submissions. I am aware that some of their systems were becoming available around 4:40pm, but this may not have extended to all of their systems quite yet.
I have just attempted it. Let me try again.
It may be worth leaving it until tomorrow for everything to settle. It has been known for things like to run over, so giving it overnight would give it time to settle.
Okay. I have attempted to resubmit the return but have received the same message. I will not be back in the office until next Monday so will try again then and hopefully it will have sorted itself out. I am assuming it is at the HMRC end? - Many thanks,
