VAT UTR number not showing and 'no permissions'

Hi,

I’m a bit lost with the connection to HMRC. I setup the link back months ago, but tried to submit my vat return on the 6th of jan, but got the error.

You are not yet authorised to view this report for the VRN XXXXXXXXX . Please ensure your VAT number is correct and you have connected the corresponding HMRC Tax Account. If you have recently enrolled on the MTD scheme please allow 24 hours for HMRC systems to update.

I’ve tried reconnecting it but get the same issue. I can recreate this message by clicking ‘VAT Obligations’ If I create a connection, it logs into our gov gateway fine and says allow quickfile to manage our VAT which we do and then the link shows back in quickfile. The only thing i noticed is it doesnt show our UTR number in the list. is this normal?

I’ve logged a case with hmrc but they say everything is fine (typically)

I noticed a couple of other support items on the forum that say people might have 2 HMRC accounts but I only know of the one we use and can see

Any help would be appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Firstly the blanked out UTR number is not relevant in this case. This message appears when we get an “Unauthorised” response when trying to connect to HMRC to query your VAT obligations.

Can I just ask, when you log into your HMRC account do you see a message there to say that MTD is enabled? Did you receive an email from HMRC confirming that you successfully enrolled to MTD? Mosty cases I’ve seen like this are where the enrollment part was never completed with HMRC.

If we don’t get any joy with that we can escalate the issue to HMRC’s technical team.
