What nominal code to use for virtual office services?


I purchase a virtual office service and I’m not sure what nominal code/purchase category to place the purchase under.

The service I purchase provides me with a mailing address (sort of like a PO box but without a PO box number). This allows me to work from home and work mobile (tradesman), but still appear like I have real offices. The service also provides me with a landline number where someone answers all my calls and then emails me a telephone message.

I’m a bit stumped on how to record this. Right now I’ve put it into Misc. Purchases… But, I’m not sure if it should be a purchase or an overhead?

Any advice would be great.


You could put it under either Hosting Fees and IT Consumables (7506) or possibly Subscriptions (8201).
