You have a saved VAT Return that overlaps this period (ending 30 Nov 2022)

I’ve just connected my account to HMRC for VAT. Its done most of the overdue returns but I’m still due 1/9/21-30/11/21. It seems I’ve got a saved one for that period that needs deleting but I can’t see how to do it. The only saved one I can see is for the following period and I can’t delete that one either. Some help would be very appreciated.

Hello Paul

Vat returns have to be submitted in chronological order.

You would have to roll back each return in sequence up to the missing period.

Once the later returns are rolled back you can then generate the missing period.

As you can not submit a period twice, the periods already submitted will need to be generated and saved in sequence.

To do this

1. Go to Reports > Vat Returns > Settings.
2. Select no electronic filing in the HMRC account box.
3. Run each period for the relevant date range and save each return ensuring the figures are correct.
4. Once all the periods are saved reverse step 2 to relink your HMRC account.
