Smtp settings dilemma

Hello Glen
i am having trouble with the smtp settings…
i have set it up (i think!) and received a code which i entered
but my purchase orders etc. don’t seem to come from my email address
i have looked into godaddy spf records and decided it’s beyond my comprehension (or that of anyone over 12
godaddy have tried to help and tell me my settings should be correct…what have i done wrong?
is there a way of testing it without creating an unwanted record (upsetting invoice numbers etc)?
Many thanks
Simon

I think your SMTP settings are fine, as I am able to send a test email through your server. The email also appears to be coming from your email address and SMTP server.

The SPF response was neutral which means that your server isn’t specifying any SPF records.

spf=neutral (google.com: info@xxxxxx.co.uk does not designate permitted sender hosts) smtp.mail=info@xxxxxxx.co.uk

You will need to add an SPF record with your host, they should be able to help you do this. Once implemented you shoudl be able to verify using the following tool.

Thanks very much for the response
i have contacted the help desk but they cant help me past a certain point.
i now know how to get to the page where you add the spf record…then the trail runs cold.

i can add…godaddy and an isp?

then i can be…inbound, outbound, ptr or outsourced???

thats as far as i got!!!
sorry to be a nuisance!
thanks
Simon

Not sure if this is any help:

Guide to Edit Your GoDaddy SPF Record

Glen
sorry this is taking me a while…work keeps getting in the way!
i have this response from kitterman (see below)
but my estimates etc are still coming from no response at quickfile

what am i doing wrong?
thanks
Simon

SPF record lookup and validation for: ambroseproductions.co.uk

SPF records are published in DNS as TXT records.

The TXT records found for your domain are:
v=spf1 include:spf.quickfile.co.uk +all

Checking to see if there is a valid SPF record.

Found v=spf1 record for ambroseproductions.co.uk:
v=spf1 include:spf.quickfile.co.uk +all

evaluating…
SPF record passed validation test with pySPF (Python SPF library)!

Your SPF record looks fine!

When you say your estimates are still originating from noreply@quickfile.co.uk, if this is a CC’d version it will always come from noreply@quickfile.co.uk, your client’s email however will come from your configured email address. This is to prevent mail relay where the to and from address are the same.

Fantastic. many many thanks
Simon
