Invoice number already used

I am trying to create a new invoice but QF tells me the number has already been used but I have definitely not used this number before?

Have you created the invoice with that number previously, but deleted it? This is usually the case for most. For audit trail purposes, an invoice is never truly deleted (just marked as such), so HMRC can see your complete records.
