I’ve run into problems because it is possible to create new journals dated prior to lock date. This invalidates YE journal. Also once they are created you can’t delete them unless you delete all prior YE journals. I don’t think you should be able to create journals before lock date. At least there should be a warning that you are doing so.
Correction- delete all subsequent YE journals

When you try to create a journal during a locked period, you should see a message like this:
Do you not receive these?
That’s correct. Altering one journal could mean the following YE journals are not accurate, so they have to be removed in order (newest first).

There is a provision just for journals that allow you to insert a journal on the last day of a closed period. This allows you to make corrections to a previously submitted year end journal if needed.
