as a hairdressing company I need to charge 13% on sales, how can I do this please?
Are you on the flat rate VAT scheme? You can’t charge 13% VAT in the UK as it’s not a standard rate.
If however you are on the flat rate scheme, you charge the full 20% and only pay 13%
You’ll find a general guide on how QuickFile handles flat rate here:

But you need to mark up your invoices with the standard rate, then you just pay your agreed flat rate percentage (13%) on your VATable sales turnover to HMRC.
Hello, the VAT rate for services is 20% on your sales, not 13%. You probably are on the Flat Rate Sheme of VAT. This means that although your customers still pay 20% VAT, you only have to pay 13% VAT to HMRC on your GROSS turnover figures. You cannot claim back VAT on purchases and expenses.
The only VAT you can claim back is on your investments (assets) from £2000 and over. If you need further information just let us know.
