Accountant filing vat return through QuickFile

Hi, I have spread the word “quickfile” to several clients! Their accountant normally submits their vat returns using agent services. Is it possible for this to happen in Quickfile?

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

If their accountant normally submits their returns then they can still do this if the accountant has an Affinity account then they can link the agents account.

Otherwise, the clients can set up their own link to HMRC and add the accountant as a user to their QuickFile account for them to submit that way

Does that mean they can enter the accountants agent id in the vat return section to submit the return?

Hi @ltbbookworks

You would link the HMRC agent account to the Affinity account. This would automatically link any client accounts.

There’s more information on this, here: HMRC Agent Services Account Integration

I looked at the affinity account but it appears the accountant has to pay a subscrition too. Seems at odds with other software providers who are providing this functionality at no cost to the accountant.

Affinity is a product aimed at multi-users such as accountants and bookkeepers. It allows you to access and monitor multiple QuickFile accounts from a single dashboard, but also comes with additional functionality too.

We have a comparison between Power User Subscription and Affinity, here: Power User Subscription vs Affinity

Nothing wrong with accountant manually entering vat details via their agent account. Unless you are part of Mtd, in which case you would already have a link established in your own quickfile account and as such the accountant could simply give you the nod for you to press the submit button. Or you could add them as a user and they can do it for you.
