Done this a few times and a button here (like the pay in full one) would help. If I click “log payment” on a purchase then start filling in boxes I either forget to change the date or have to cancel and start again to check the date as the modal is placed over the purchase details box. A simple fix for both of these issues would be a box for “use purchase date”.

Hmm OK, it’s not really a feature request, more of a minor bug/UX issue/missing option. Hopefully you don’t just dismiss this entirely now you’ve decided it’s a “feature request”.
