Adding items to an invoice

When I add an item to an invoice it:

1. It will not allow me to select an item from the sales inventory
2. delete the item line once inserted

Would you be able to provide a bit more information please? For example, does it show a list of items once you start typing, and then it stops you from selecting an item? What happens when you click it - do you see any errors for example?

Similarly with point 2 - does it show any error messages?

What happens when you click it - do you see any errors for example?…When I click on the red cross nothing happens, although the 2 lines that come up when I initiate the invoice work fine and can be deleted.
