Affinity access to accountant

Last year I gave my accountant access to my first company’s accounts through the team management options once logged into the package for that company.

I now have a second company and have the two companies in an Affinity account.

However, I cannot add the accountant directly to the second company or through the general Affinity settings, because it says their email is registered (which it is).

Should I delete them from the first company and add them through affinity? They need to be able to access both company packages at the same time.

If not, what should I do?

UPDATE: I do not seem to have the option even to delete them from the first company, which was created before it was put into an Affinity package, which seems very odd?

Kind regards,
Tony

The usual advice in this case is to register them on the second company under a different email address. If you have your own email domain or domains you can use aliases on those like accountant@company.com and accountant@othercompany.net. Or if you have a gmail then you can add +anything before the @, like myname+accounts-co1@gmail.com and myname+accounts-co2@gmail.com, and if necessary set up filters to forward any emails sent to those addresses over to the accountant’s real email.

Only the “account administrator” can add and remove team members. If you set it up as a standalone account before adding it to affinity then chances are the admin is still your original direct login rather than your access via the affinity dashboard.

If you log in directly as your original id then you should be able to reassign the admin role to the fake affinity email address instead.

Thanks Ian - both replies make sense and i can create a forwarding email, if necessary - good thinking. I would prefer to be able to use their own, and have now deleted from the standalone account, but it still isn’t letting me add them to Affinity - might it take a while to ‘clear’ once they have been removed before I can add them again?

Maybe your accountant already has their own Affinity dashboard that they use for their own customers? I don’t work for QuickFile so I can’t check anything like that in the back end but it would be a plausible explanation.
