We have a client with several locations, we invoice each location separately but receive one payment for all locations, how can I allocate the payment to each location?
Personally I’d always favour the holding account option, keeps the bank account matching your actual bank account, especially useful/important if using the bank feeds.

I agree about the “holding account” being the best work around.
I have always thought QF to be rather simplistic when it comes to multiple client locations and contacts. Even a simple thing like having a description field attached to each contact could make things a lot easier. That could be used, for example, either to identify different site contacts or the escalation process for payment queries.
