Feature requested Would you please address the issues surrounding my not being able to add an accountant’s email to several shared clients?
Typical use case For affinity users like me who regularly share clients with other accountancy clients I am unable to add one email as a team member to to more then one individual account. I have received a complaint this morning from an auditor that I work with that they cannot access a client’s records and they are now attempting to move them onto their Xero platform. .
How I would expect it to work Affinity has been created for professionals, but the setup is not user friendly to enable professionals to work together. In the past I was creating temporary emails to allow access, but again this is unworkable in practice as they auditor forgets the email address, which may be defunct due to it not being used for 12 months at a time.
This is a bit tricky to add in. The best way to do it for now is to add the auditor to your account and give them access to just the client(s) needed.
What @martinprice has suggested is a good way of doing this. Google Mail (and Google Workspace as a result) supports these types of addresses, and they’re becoming more popular with other providers, too.
The plus addressing is no different to just allocating temporary/alternative email addresses. People who don’t use this sort of thing and just use their 1 email address for everything aren’t going to use this so the workaround does not address the original issue. Random user who never uses the service from one year to the next and is also probably not familiar with computers/emails/technology and does not use a password manager and autofill is not going to remember how or why plus addressing works and certainly won’t have a record of what the address is that they are supposed to use.
