Bank Balance Wrong

I have been using Quickfile for many years and we want to go to lower cost accountant which uses QF.

Our current accountant does not use QF and so doesn’t worry about correct balances etc.

Now I can see that our current account balance in QF is very different from the actual bank account.balance.

I have tried the “Modify Opening Balance” option but it then states: “This journal is in a locked period and cannot be modified. If you need to modify this journal please check and remove any year-end journals that are locking this period.”

The discrepancy with the current account goes back over 10 years.

Any idea what I can do?

You would have to either

  • Delete all the year end journals to modify the balance but as it is a balance sheet code all of then following years carried forward would have different figures.

  • Speak to your new accountant for advice in posting a correction in the current year

Hi, I clicked on Reports>Journals and then clicked the button to automatically sort journals into folders and found that there are no year-end journal. The book keeper says she’s never run these year-end journals.

Could you advise?

I have just checked the account and there was an account lock date (Account Settings > Account lock Date) set in 2016, I have adjusted this to 2015 for you.

You should now be able to amend/delete the journal.
