I have attempted to set up a Barclays Open Banking feed but get this message;
We are unable to obtain a list of authorised accounts from Barclays. This is due to one or more markers on your Barclays account that is preventing you from using Open Banking services. Please contact Barclays on one of the numbers supplied below and ask them to review the affected account. If you have any further difficulties please contact us.
I called Barclays on the number given and they were worse than useless. They didn’t know much if anything about Quickfile and ended up suggesting I move to Xero or Quickbooks instead. Any suggestions, if I can’t get a feed working I might have to think about their suggestions for real
Well if all else fails you can click the small link on that message you’re seeing in QuickFile to use the Yodlee feed, about 90% of all our Barclays feeds are still running on Yodlee and in fact neither Xero or Quickbooks use the new Open Banking feeds at this time.
Sadly the advice that has been issued by the front line support team at Barclays has been utterly useless. We have direct access to their Open Banking team that advise us that these cases are quite rare and a fix is in the pipeline.
Anecdotally in the similar cases I have discussed with other affected users it has been down to the ID that Barclays are holding on their systems to be partially missing or expired. The way others have resolved this is by going into their branch and asking for their ID to be checked for completeness and updated where required.
I’m sorry this all makes for a bad user experience. We do what we can here to direct customers, but we’re swimming upstream when 1. Barclays allow users to authorise and then later fail in an unpredictable way like this and 2. the support staff are uninformed and frankly unprofessional.
I have enabled the Yodlee feed and it picked up new transactions overnight. There was a gap between 15/1 and 28/1 which did not download so I did a manual refresh from 15/1 and that seems to have done the trick. Thanks for your help.
