I’ve setup a recurring payment thanks to the KB but wanted to know if its possible to backdate it. I don’t think it is as anything prior to today is greyed out on the schedule calendar so I may have to just manually key it but if it can be done that’d be helpful to know.

With recurring purchase schedules they can only be used to create future purchase invoices. I’m afraid this feature will not create back-dated records.
I would recommend instead to locate past payments on your bank and tag them to a purchase invoice linked to the supplier. You can also bulk tag up to 50 entries at a time like this.
