I want to submit a saved return. But I can’t view it just moves on to the next quarter. I do not have to use MTD as I am voluntarily registered.
In QuickFile the submission happens at the point of saving, you can’t go back later and submit to HMRC a return that already shows as “saved”. You’ll need to roll back the saved return and then create a new one for the same quarter and save that with the box ticked to submit online to HMRC.
Yes I know, but there isn’t a way of rolling it back as it will not show it when I try to view.
This is a VERY urgent support request. The return needs to be sent today. Prompt attention would be appreciated.
The deadline for VAT returns is usually a month plus seven days - i.e. 7th October for a return for the quarter up to the end of August.
Have you submitted (or saved) another return since the one you’re trying to deal with now? You can only roll back the latest return - if you want to redo an earlier one you’ll have to roll back all the ones since then first, then fix the earlier one, then re-create the others.
The return is for the period 1st June to 31st August. The deadline for submitting is from 1st September to 7th October, payment to be made during this period. I wil not be available from the 3rd really need to sort today.
Rolling back a VAT Return
In some cases it may be necessary to roll back a VAT Return. You should only do this if you have not yet sent the return to HMRC, or the return was rejected and is maked with the status “ERROR”. If you have successfully sent the return to HMRC then you should adjust out any errors in the next VAT return.
VAT Returns can only be rolled back in chronological sequence, so you must roll back Q2 2015 return before rolling back Q1 2015 return. To roll back a return, preview the return and click the rollback button below the preview. All transactions will be unlocked and the journals will be deleted.
This is the instructions for rolling back a saved but not yet submitted return. When I press the view button it shows me the next return dates, not the period as stated above.
Hi @PLUKEY
When a return is saved or submitted, it’s possible to roll a VAT return back in QuickFile, but this wouldn’t affect the submission to HMRC. You would do this by using the red “Rollback VAT Return” button at the bottom of the return itself:
It’s also worth noting what @ian_roberts mentions, in that in most cases you can submit a return up until the 7th of the month. If you pay by direct debit, then this is more than fine.
However, I will send you a private message and take a look at this for you. You should see a green notification in the top right shortly.
Strange, it works fine for me - Reports → VAT Returns gives me the list of previously-submitted returns and each one has a “view” link on the far right, when I view the most recent one there is a rollback button at the bottom of the page.
(N.B. I don’t work for QuickFile so I can’t see anything back end, I can only report what works for me on my own QuickFile account)
So do I press the submit button to see the roll back button
This is via “Reports -> VAT Returns”, not “Reports -> HMRC”.
Yes, there is a view button on all the submitted returns and if you press it shows the return box details. The saved one however, does not show a return but the information for the next quarter.
I’m afraid you’ve lost me now, but hopefully @QFMathew can help you better as he can see your account from the back end.
How do I contact him(her)
He said he would contact you - look out for the green notification, or click his username in the post above and you should see a blue “message” button.
