I have previously downloaded statements (transaction lists) from my Cater Allen bank account and then used the Upload Statement feature in QuickFile to import the transactions. I tried this yesterday and found that the transactions were not imported correctly. When I looked at the file downloaded from Cater Allen, it was apparent that the format has changed somewhat since I previously used it. So, if QuickFile is going to continue to support the Upload Statement feature for Cater Allen accounts, it needs to be updated to take account of their new format. Will this be happening?
It’s not so much the format has changed (although they have altered the column order compared to the old export which doesn’t help). It’s more the fact that they don’t seem to know what a transaction list is and instead export it as a statement with all the unnecessary, unstructured data at the top.
You should be able to open the CSV export in Excel, remove the extra data at the top manually and then import into QF and re-map using Paul’s method above. That being said, I tried it and couldn’t get it to work properly so ended up entering everything in manually but your mileage may vary.
If you have trouble with things like that in the future, there is a nice little bit of software called able2extract.
You can use it to map a table around the data you want, splitting it in to rows and columns and then export again as csv. It will cut out all the crud that some banks include.
I got the same problem. I edited the downloaded CSV and removed the new columns and rows and it then uploaded without a problem.
As Cater Allen is a subsidiary of Santander maybe you could try their format instead (I haven’t tried this but it might work?)
