Change to vat period

My current VAT Period is Feb, May, Aug, Nov.

My accountant has notified HMRC that I wish to change to Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct.

I see in my VAT seetings drop down that both the above periods are there.

I have just submitted the return for 01.11.25 - 31.01.26 so do I now update the VAT settings period to Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct.?

The vat period setting in the vat settings is no longer used for the vat return since MTD was introduced.

We have no control over the return dates/periods in the software as we now read directly from your tax account and display the dates in the Reports > Vat Return > Create screen.

Any changes to this information would require a change by HMRC and you would need to contact them directly.
