Hi - I accidentally set my VAT to cash accounting when I set up Quickfile. Which was fine for the first VAT return as the I only had 2 invoices paid quickly which fell into that VAT period for accrual accounting. I have just amended it to accrual but the VAT return is now picking up those 2 invoices from the prior VAT period. How do I remove these? Do I have to adjust for them?
I am on the flat rate VAT scheme and this will be the 2nd VAT return. I keep a separate spreadsheet anyway showing what the VAT is each quarter.
Thanks
Pav
Di you actually file vat return from QF or marked it filed? if yes system should ignore invoices accounted for on cash basis unless not fully paid
Hi @FaradayKeynes
I filed the Q2 VAT return by hitting submit return in quickfile. I then filed the actual return separately with HMRC. That return is fine for accrual accounting even though cash accounting was set. Its the one I will have to file next (Q3). When I run the VAT return and download the details it picks up the 2 invoices from the prior return.
I just went into the Q2 return and it does have a button for roll back but I don’t know what this does in terms of the accounting.
If Q2 invoices are fully paid in Q2 and accounted for vat , try changing vat return date settings from Q3 start date
@FaradayKeynes
Ok but if I do that does the Q2 VAT return remain?
@FaradayKeynes that’s worked fine - thank you!
