Is it possible to delete, or at least change the name/description, of a nominal account marked as “This is a locked system account”. I.E. 7901 Bank charges, if I can’t delete it then can I at least call it “Sundry”…
No. But you don’t have to use the default nominal codes on your purchases and invoices, you can create your own with different numbers and use those instead. If there’s no activity on 7901 then it won’t appear on your P&L report.
There are certain nominals that are hard-coded inside the software for specific purposes, mainly the control accounts for things like debtors & creditors, VAT, PAYE, etc., but for the income and expense categories they’re more like suggestions than requirements.
