Client over-payment on invoice

I have a situation where a client paid their invoice but the total paid was more than invoiced. I entered the amount paid against the invoice total but balanced out and never showed the clients total in credit. I tried a credit note but this requires a product/service refund. All it is is extra money in their account which would come off their next invoice. Is there a solution I’m missing? #lovequickfiles

When you enter a payment on an invoice you can actually enter an amount that exceeds the invoice balance. Any over-payment automatically gets allocated as a client credit.

Any credit on account will reflect on the client detail screen:

If you originally entered just the balance amount as a payment you can delete the payment and enter it again, this time reflecting the full amount paid.

Hello,
I have the same problem. But the client wants me to refund the credit (Account Credit).
I seem not to be able to refund a credit as it nly allows me to refund an actual invoice.
Any help appreciated

Hi @logoznyk,

Open up that client, and select ‘All Payments’ under ‘View’

Find the payment where some of it is partially unallocated (this would most likely be where they overpaid you)

If you click the payment (‘View Details’) you should see a refund balance button:

And then just fill in the details!

Any problems, give us a shout!
