For some reason Quickfile will not let me collect my direct debit on todays date, it will only let me collect on the 20th October.

Because of the nature of direct debits, they take a few days to process, which means it’s not possible to collect today. The earliest date possible is supplied by GoCardless.
In this case, if it’s showing the 20th October as the earliest date, then that would be the earliest date GoCardless is able to collect the funds.
Previously this wasn’t enforced by GoCardless. However, they have recently made some changes, one of which is a more realistic collection date.
