how do I get the net figures for money owed to us and for money we owe EX vat is there a possibility that the break down could be made clear, the VAT and TAX is owed to HMRC not me.
Hi @pelican,
You can get the net figures from either the P&L or the Balance Sheet as VAT is separated out into a different nominal
the vat is separated for purchases and for sales
The total amount including VAT is what is due to you or your suppliers - this is the amount you/they have to pay, you can’t pay the net amount and nor can your customers.
The net amount is shown in the P&L as revenue or expenditure and the VAT element is shown in the balance sheet as owing to HMRC. The gross amounts are shown as debtors or creditors in the balance sheet.
