I’ll certainly ask for it to be looked into, but what email provider are they using? I’ve never known an email provider to only accept addresses if the case is correct
From what I know, technically the left portion (before the @ symbol) of the email address can be case sensitive, although very few email systems would enforce this as it would result in huge amounts of missing mail.
I would check with your client on this one, I would be very surprised if their mail server is enforcing case sensitivity.
Thank you for your quick response. Their customer’s email address seems to be case sensitve. I have however sent emails to him with both options and we are waiting a response.
I’ve found a customer with an automated account payables email address where the part of the address to the left of the @ is case sensitive.
They are therefore apparently not receiving the invoices we send to them.
I’ve checked the RFC for email/SMTP and although strongly discouraged (I agree, it’s stupid), case sensitivity in the “local part”, i.e to the left of the @ and they can be case sensitive.
Is there any particular reason why QF forces all email addresses to lower case?
I think I have just encountered one too. And to answer your comment “I would be very surprised if their mail server is enforcing case sensitivity.” all I would do is quote a story:
How many Microsoft engineers does it take to change a light bulb? None, they just declare darkness as the new industry standard.
