Is there a way to email an invoice from QF without setting up a client logon, there does not seem to be an e-mail address field in the client record either. I don’t want to have loads of potential ways into my QF and absolutely no need for my clients to access their records with me. Currently I am copying the e-mail address from my old accounts system and sending it as a PDF, this is not what I want to be doing.
Hello @hifly
You can add contacts to the client record then email invoices with attached PDF.

Hi Steve,
As far as i can see the client record does not contain a field for an e-mail address, where does the e-mail address come from?
I would prefer QF to make a pdf, open my e-mail client, attach the clients e-mail address and pdf and i can then type some text and send it. is this possible?
Hello @hifly
It is listed under contact details on the client record
Add a contact then modify the client record as shown below
When you go to send the invoice you have an option to send as PDF
I have found that but i don’t want to create client logon’s which it is forcing me to do.
Hello @hifly
A login is always created for a client, if you don’t want them having access do the below.
- Untick “Automatically create a login”
- Enter a password and confirm
- Leave Email login details to the client unticked
that is still creating a client login point it is just not letting them know it is there, seems very odd to be forced to make a login point that’s not going to be used just so i can add an e-mail to a client record
Hello @hifly
QuickFile is designed around the login process for clients rather than sending PDF’s
Please see below

so basically there is no way to record a clients e-mail address without creating a client login, this was the 1st line of my question, shame it has taken email tennis to get the simple answer of “no”.
Hello @hifly
Sorry, No
The email login is used as this keeps a record of when the invoice has been viewed, with PDF’s you can not track this.
