Error when setting up SMTP with Office 365

When trying to set up Office 365 SMTP, I get the below error:

Unable to read data from the transport connection: net_io_connectionclosed.

I’m using the following settings with a “Mail user” contact type in Exchange (effectively a send-only email account):

Host smtp.office365.com
Port 587
STARTTLS Yes
From address myemail@domain.com (I understand this is set as a Reply-To header?)
Username billing@domain.com

Any help would be appreciated with this rather cryptic error!

Have you tried matching the from name to the username used? I’m pretty sure with mail server settings both have to match. But I could be wrong.

Another thing to check here is the set up of the accounts. Do you have 2FA set up on the account?

Could you try using port 25?
