Feedback, enhancements and thank you

QuickFile Suggestions

Hi

I am a new user and I just wanted to write and compliment you on QuickFile. It is a superb piece of software. I have just converted some accounts over from QuickBooks which I have been using in one guise or another since about 1998 (I think).

It does everything I need for the accounts I keep, mainly short term rental property, so I don’t need stock control, PAYE etc.

Obviously it takes a little bit of getting use to having used QuickBooks for so long but after a while it becomes intuitive and straightforward to use.

As I say I come from a QuickBooks background and therefore have some suggestions that I feel would enhance the usability of QuickFile. Of course there maybe reasons why you haven’t built any of the below in to QuickFile but I post them here as suggestions and in good faith.

There is nothing directly I would criticise in QuickFile. It really works.,

Dates more forgiving 4/02 and tab would enter 04/02/2023.

Dates more forgiving 4/2/21 and tab would enter 04/02/2021.

Dates more forgiving 080820 and tab would enter 08/08/2020 .

Journal entry

First amount field would prefill balancing field. i.e enter 75.00 in Debit would fill £75 in Credit on next line.

Journal entry:

Tab from last credit field takes you to “Save Journal Entry” so that it can be saved with tab and return.

Journals

Memorised journals not necessarily automatic but just easy to have setup.

Exporting

Option to hide accounts with zero balance when exporting a report eg Trial Balance.

Move:

Clear all data in your account

To the very bottom of Dashboard - Account Settings

And have in red

Daily backups

OneDrive and iCloud integration for backups etc

Could the account (Top right) name be in a bigger font size

Choose the colour of the band across the top.

Setup recurring journals where first journal occurs in the future. e.g I contract to pay for something today 21/01/2023 and I know that the first direct debit will be taken on 1st February and that there will be 10 payments. Have the ability to set up the payment today on 21/01/2023. This is not possible at the moment because it is in the future.

Single button to collapse all sections of Chart of Accounts

New journal button on Journals – Journal Entry Page rather than having to go back and click + Create

Sub accounts e.g.

7200 – Utilities

7200a – Electricity

7200b – Gas

7200c – Water

Recurring journals Occurrences blank continues till cancelled.

Ability to rename Current Account (1200) so it shows as that in Chart of Accounts (ie Barclays)

Sticky Top Menu so that

My Dashboard | Sales | Purchases | Banking | Reports | Account Settings | Help

Stays visible when you scroll down.

Allow entry of payments for future dates. Or at least up to 7 days in the future or as user setting. e.g. I make a payment via online banking on 13th January at 20:00, but it will not go through the account until 16th January. So I have to enter it as 13th January and then after the weekend go back and edit the entry.

Due date

  • Allow standard terms eg on receipt, 60 days etc
  • Allow entering of a date

This is actually important to me because the due date of the invoice is driven by the date of the rental not the date the invoice is raised.

Profit and Los account and balance sheet reports showing last year figures, change and %age change.

Sorting the bank statement by date oldest to newest does not give the correct bank balance. I prefer the statement listed oldest to newest but I am sure I will get used to it!

Once again thank you so much for an amazing package.

Kind regards

Michael Broom Smith – a very happy user.

Hi,
All three things can already be done in CSS and HTML editor.

Thank you for your reply. Is there an article that explains how.

Thank you.

I have found it now, so thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
