Filing returns for income tax

Please can you let me know whether quickfile is ready for making tax digital for income tax in the same way we file returns for VAT, if so how does this work please?

Hello @nicola

I would reccomend having a look at the below thread

The online accounts and Company Tax Return service is closing - #6 by Darren_Smith

Hi @nicola

MTD for ITSA (for income tax and self assessment) is due to start next tax year and I believe that Quickfile will be ready for this. Limited companies are not involved in MTD as yet. The idea is that 4 quarterly returns will be sent via your software to HMRC, with a final one including all the year end adjustments. Keep an eye on the QF website and they will update you nearer the time.

Thank you so much for clarifying Paul.

Hi Paul,

I appreciate that the date for MTD for partnerships has not yet been decided but will you be ready for this?

Hi @nicola

I will dig out more info on mtd for partnerships and post back here in a few days

Yes, QuickFile is preparing for Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA), similar to how it supports MTD for VAT. It will allow you to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC. You’ll need to authorize QuickFile to connect with HMRC and follow their MTD-compliant reporting process.

I am led to believe that HMRC will not implement mtd for Partnerships for quite a number of years yet. They need to prove that MTD for ITSA is stable and working well before taking on Partnerships.

Thank you for looking into this for me
