Hello. What is the significance of foreign currency transactions in our PayPal bank feed having the date greyed out? For each of these transactions (one USD, one Euro - always the same two companies) I create a payment record and tag the payment to that. Should I be doing something different? Thank you.
Normally you can click on the date field of a bank transaction and change the date, but certain types of transactions don’t allow that, mainly:
- anything dated before your latest year-end lock
- foreign currency transactions, where changing the date would change the effective exchange rate
- transactions generated from a journal, where if you need to change the transaction date then you have to edit the journal, not the transaction
I’ve also found that if I have semi-automatic tagging rules where a transaction comes up with the yellow “confirm” button then when I click to confirm the date is greyed out until I refresh the page, I’m not sure whether that is by design or if it’s a bug.
Thank you. The date of the exchange rate makes sense. I’ll keep on doing what I’m doing.
