Goodwill gestures have been discussed many times here, but not to my 100% understanding.
I made a complaint to my bank as they did quite a large mess up, I was given a £20 goodwill bank credit.
How would I tag this? (I do not pay any fees to my bank so it cannot be recovered that way)

Would I not need to also attach some sort of log of the conversation to prove where the income come from?
No.
You could add ‘goodwill payment’ in the notes. The backing report shows where it came from, and there’s a degree of trust in the whole thing anyway as there’s a lot isn’t fully traced from source, only from the point it hits your bank.
