HMRC Error Code 401 MISSING CREDENTIALS

Although I can see and have re-linked to HMRC, when I try to submit my VAT return, i get the following message:
There was a problem submitting your VAT return
Hmrc Error Code: 401
Status: MISSING_CREDENTIALS
Message: Authentication information is not provided

I don’t know what is missing, as I’ve got all the necessary confirmations from HMRC, and have already submitted my last return through QuickFile.

Hi @Zarna.Banerjee

Are you using MTD (Making Tax Digital)?

Hi - yes, I am, and, as mentioned, successfully submitted my last VAT return to HMRC. I can see the blue “MTD ribbon” on the VAT Return.

Hi - Just a quick update on this - it’s resolved. I spoke to HMRC, and turns out that I was using my original Government Gateway ID and password - so they reset those for me and I logged in again. Also, I needed to “reattach” the new connection in VAT settings, before the VAT Return got submitted.
Thanks!
