HMRC returned a server error, this usually occurs when their service is temporarily down for maintenance

Trying to create a new VAT return and get this error: “HMRC returned a server error, this usually occurs when their service is temporarily down for maintenance.” Anyone else getting this error? Is this a genuine HMRC error or an issue with QuickFile. Thanks in advance.

This is an issue on HMRCs side. They are aware and actively working on it.

Thanks @QFMathew. Do you have a link to a HMRC status page confirming this? I am just thinking ahead in case they can’t resolve this as the deadline for the VAT submission is today and so would be helpful to have this to dispute any fines received! Many thanks

We’ve also had this confirmed to us by email from HMRC.
