HMRC Software Permission

When I tried to renew my software permission through HMRC it now reads: Client Not Authorised in Quickfile (I may have used my Personal Tax Account number instead of my VAT account one). So, how do I re-submit it to authorise Quickfile to link with HMRC?

Hello @tonybrown

You can go into Reports > HMRC and add the correct HMRC tax account.

The problem was, when I went into Reports>HMRC, there wasn’t any way to add the correct tax account number - nothing to click on. It just said Client not authorised.

I think I might have sorted it now as I used by mobile to access the email that Quickfile sent me about the software permission expiry date (instead of my laptop - as I couldn’t change the tax account number through the laptop) and I could put the correct tax acct number in this way. The Status now reads: Good, so I presume it’s OK now?

But is there any where I can check what the expiry date is of the Quickfile software permission?

Hello @tonybrown

The HMRC authorisation lasts 18 months.

But is there any where I can check what the expiry date is of the Quickfile software permission?

This is not visible in QuickFile, only on the HMRC website.

I’ve checked on the HMRC website and it states authority was granted on 16 August 2023 - which would imply it’ll expire on 16 Feb? The only option on HMRC website is to remove authority - you can only extend authority within Quickfile (not thru HMRC) so I still don’t know if the permission’s actually been extended or if it’s going to expire shortly. Can anyone at Quickfile confirm if I’ve successfully extended the authority?

Hello @tonybrown

Try connecting again in Reports > HMRC, there’s no harm in it.
