Hello Support
I have just started using Quickfile. I have completed my 1st VAT return and submitted it. How do I mark it as Paid for the bank to reconile? regards
Judith
So you’ve actually made the payment to HMRC for the amount of VAT due? If so you would just tag the payment on the bank account.
And select VAT from the drop-down. This will reduce any VAT liability created when the VAT return was committed.
Yes I have via card payment over the phone. I must admit I have a few transactions I need to add to my account on Quickfile for it to balance properly.
OK if you see my above edit, you just need to find that card payment on the bank (if your importing from a CSV/feed) and tag it as a payment to HMRC for VAT.
Clearly I need to add it to Quickfile as a payment. Do I open up a new supplier (eg HMRC) to do that?
No it’s not a supplier payment. HMRC aren’t treated as a supplier, instead the bank transaction is posted to the VAT liability account (nominal account 2202). By following the method in my previous post it will post that bank entry straight to the VAT liability account.
Hi Glenn
I am getting to grip with this system. Not great at accounting but once I get my head around it …, Just been putting the transactions on whilst awaiting a reply and it seems to be going what I want it to do.
Your Quickfile is great and I personally am very grateful to you for its availablity and your problem support. I may be in touch in the future though! ha ha.
Many thanks Judith
OK no problem. Stick with it, it can be tricky at the beginning, but it just becomes routine after a while.
Any questions just post a new topic.
