HSBC Bank Feed process

HSBC allow you to export historic statements and recent transactions. Just to make our job a little harder they both adopt two slightly different formats

Semi-automatic, in the sense that unlike say Barclays (which automatically runs every night) they require the user to manually request the feed. The Chrome plugin automates this routine so that when you’re logged into HSBC online banking the plugin injects an “Export to Quick File” button that triggers a statement download and streams it directly into your Quick File account, thus removing the steps where you would download the CSV, QIF or OFX and manually upload to Quick File.

Essentially any bank that uses some form of 2 Factor Authentication (e.g. a pin sentry or key-fob) cannot be fully automated. The Chrome plugin is about as close as we can get to automation…Also the beauty of this Chrome plugin method is you never need to disclose your credentials to a 3rd party like say Yodlee.

Hi Glen

Since i am not familiar with HSBC banking, i am not sure about this.

Will my client be able to import via Chrome plugin the data more frequently then once a month?

Thanks
Sameera

Yes, they can import every day if they like…from the recent transactions page.

This is great, as many other accounting softwares struggle with HSBC.

Many Thanks

Kind regards
