HSBC Import transaction amount wrongly mapped

How do I resolve the error message ’ Transaction amount wrongly mapped’ in a bank file that I’m trying to upload. All the amounts are in one column either as a positive or with a minus sign. There are only 3 columns, date, description and amount. How is the transaction amount wrong?

Hi @BBK

Are you trying to import this by selecting a bank from the drop down (and if so, what bank)? Does it work all OK if you selected “Other” as the bank?

Hi,

The file originated from HSBC so I’ve tried it on that and it imported all the figures as payments out which made quite a mess, and then I tried it as ‘other’ and get the error message instead.

Ok, I think the best thing for me to do here is to have a look at the file and see what’s going on.
