I have lost a few invoices in last year's sales

I have to show a few invoices in last year’s accounts for the HMRC. I cannot find them in my accounts and have no knowledge that I generated them. If I made a mistake when writing an invoice or find I have duplicated it so I have deleted it, would the QF system retain the invoice reference so all details of the invoices are lost but the reference is still showing?

If you can’t find them in the main list but they’re still contributing to your accounting totals then they’re probably “archived” rather than “deleted”. There is a set of buttons at the bottom of the invoice list to switch between the “active”, “archived” and “deleted” items - archived still count towards your accounts but are just hidden from the main list, deleted don’t count towards your accounting numbers but are kept for reference in case you ever have to prove a gap in your numbering sequence for a VAT inspection.
