Inputting two different statements (Commercial card and general) in one set of accounts

I receive two statements from the bank every month and wanted to know how both can be inputted into quickfile? The general statement is itemised and includes a total figure for whatever I spend on my commercial card. The commercial card statement is itemised. When I tried adding a credit card it expects me to add a different bank account number, but all transactions are clearly from the same account.

What I would like to do is have both set up for my accounts and to be able to remove the commercial card total off the general statement to avoid entering this twice. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello @Quickfilenewbie

You can set these both up in the bank screen.

When entering them the account number and sort code is optional and just for reference,

Thanks for your reply Steve - I will give that a go and see if the App likes it.

Hi Steve,
I’ve just looked into it and I’m still a bit confused. For quickfile to recognise my bank I have to give it my account details etc. I tried to associate the commercial card with it, using the credit card option, but it wouldn’t let me enter the same account details as only one entry here seems to be possible.
I just rang the bank to ask if they can amalgamate the two statements which would solve the problem but they can’t.

I may need to reset the whole quickfile setup and start again but it would be great to get to the bottom of how I can have both statements aligned to the same account.

Hello @Quickfilenewbie

but it wouldn’t let me enter the same account details as only one entry here seems to be possible.

When setting up a bank in QuickFile you have to

  • Go to Banking > Create
  • Choose an option (e.g. credit card)
  • Choose a Bank Name
  • Enter an Account Name

All other fields are optional (currency is required but will default to GBP for you)

If you have already entered one with account details create another as per above instructions.

I may need to reset the whole QuickFile setup and start again

You can delete/reset your account from the account settings area once logged in. Please look for the “Clear all data in your account” option.

We’ve got some more detailed instructions here:

Hi Steve,

Thanks again for persevering - I seem to be making some progress!

I have deleted my purchases and sales data but not my account. It has remembered my account details and I have set up the credit card as you suggested without associating an account number and sort code.

I had previously paid to have my statements feed into the sytem but this seems to have been wiped. Is there any way of retreiving this or do I have to pay the £15 again. Secondly will this feed in both sets of statements (general and commercial card) and finally will there be a way of getting quickfile to ignore the Commercial card grand total (which appears on the general statement) so as not to have the same amount registered twice?

Hello @Quickfilenewbie

I can see on the account linked to your email DAVID TRAGEN [6131597658] you previously had a Free-Trial Bank Feeds which expired 02/01/2023 11:15

Am I looking at the correct account as there is no record on this account of a bank feeds purchase?.

The clear account option would only remove data from your account not subscriptions or authorisations.

Secondly will this feed in both sets of statements (general and commercial card) and finally will there be a way of getting quickfile to ignore the Commercial card grand total (which appears on the general statement) so as not to have the same amount registered twice?

When you grant authorisation, you are asked to log in to your bank to authorise and select which accounts you want to authorise, do the 2 statements show separately on the bank authorisation screen?
