Invoicing for VAT only

Good afternoon

I hope you don’t mind me asking this question but a client has asked if it’s possible to issue a VAT-only invoice? They have a situation where they have invoiced a local authority for wages for one of their staff and it should have had VAT on it. the council has now asked them to invoice for the VAT only!

Many thanks

If you create an invoice, you’ll need to use two lines. The first line with 20% vat AND the net amount.

The second line zero vat and minus the NET only.

What you’re left with, is just the vat.

Thank you so much! It’s always easy when someone else tells you!

You can also use the search function to find the answer, even easier!

I believe the correct process would have been to credit the first invoice and send another for the full amount including the VAT.
