Is it possible to change a transaction entry from money in to out 9 or vice versos) WITHOUT having to delete the entry and rewrite it

I am not using import from bank, just manual entry. The money in/money out option stays on the default of the last entry you did, so sometimes I forget to change it and make a series of entries in error. AS title says, do I really have to delete the entry completely? Same for the amount of money, have to reenter the lot.

If I make an error on the date, I can change that, but not these other options?

Hello @TheMew

You can not change a transaction from “Money In” to “Money Out” or vice versa
You would have to delete and re enter.

If you have lots of these transactions then you could do the below work around.
It involves the below and as I said I would only recommend if you have a lot of these to do to save you time.

Summary

  • Selecting the incorrect transactions
  • Exporting them
  • Deleting the entries from QuickFile
  • Importing the transactions

In the example below I have 2 transactions (£100 In and £200 Out)

Select and click Export Data

It will download a CSV file containing the transactions

At this point you could delete the original transactions (or do it at the end if you prefer)

Next select Options > Upload Statement

Select other from the bank and browse in your export

This next screen is where you would reverse the entries
(Be sure to tick the box at the top)

  • Select Date as column 1 and Description as column 2
  • Money Out would be column 5
  • Money in would be column 4
Note: if you look at my descriptions these are the opposite from what they were

Confirm
You can now check the result (and delete the old entries if you didn’t earlier)
