MTD for income (existing Quickfile user)

Can anyone tell me how you sign up for MTD for income with Quickfile? I am already using Quickfile for VAT returns to HMRC and have a power user subscription.

n. The link that was posted on another support note seemed to be just for new Quickfile users as I put in all the details and was told I have an account already. Only there is nowhere on the various drop down menus that allows sign up for MTD for income. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hello @Tobias

You sign up to MTD ITSA via HMRC.

Thanks Steve. I get that. But how do I see what reports within Quickfile that HMRC links in with? Will it work like the VAT reutrns where we can import a spreadsheet that contains the vital information such as total income, total expenses etc etc?

@QFSteve are you able to reply to the above? I am just not clear how this will work in Quickfile and what needs to be completed to be able to interact with the HMRC system. Thank you.

Hello @Tobias

But how do I see what reports within Quickfile that HMRC links in with?

Once you are registered You can link your tax account in the Reports > HMRC screen then access the workflow.

Will it work like the VAT return where we can import a spreadsheet that contains the vital information such as total income, total expenses etc etc?

There is no option to import transactions into the return like you can do with vat bridging.

The return is based off the transactions entered into QuickFile

Does that mean I actually have to create invoices in quickfile? Or are there spreadsheets where i can just record the invoices and expenses etc? I already have an invoicing system and wouldnt want to replicate. Happy to create rows on spreadsheet with the necessary information if that is what is needed. Is there a demo anywhere? Thanks Steve.

The data on the return is taken from your QuickFile invoices.

You can import sales and purchase invoices into QuickFile.

There is no demo unfortunately as the returns are quite specific to individuals and we could not cover every scenario.
