MTD not authorised?

We are trying to submit our VAT return digitally but this message comes up:

“You are not yet authorised to view this report for the **VRN ********** . Please ensure your VAT number is correct and you have connected the corresponding HMRC Tax Account. If you have recently enrolled on the MTD scheme please allow 24 hours for HMRC systems to update.”

We have signed up to making tax digital and connected our Quickfile account. Furthermore, we have contacted HMRC and from their side everything is fine. We have also waited for 24 hours that it states in the message.

Any ideas why the software wont let us submit the return?

Have you received the confirmation email from HMRC to say that it is all set up? Have you also double checked that you’ve connected the correct government gateway account?

When you log into your HMRC account do you see that MTD is live there with the dates for your next return?

The error is returned if there is no account for QuickFile to link to. So either there is an error in the VAT number in your settings or that the account just hasn’t been completely activated yet. As the error is returned from HMRC there isn’t much more I can suggest
